Fires of Hope

While not an actual scene from "Faith of the Fallen"; which is book 6 of The Sword of Truth book series; I presumed that this took place.

The Premise:

After Kahlan gets information on Richard's whereabouts from an interrogated Order assassin , she and Cara set off to get him back. As she and Cara get closer to Richard’s location, Kahlan can’t help but feel a sense of renewed hope that she will have her beloved once again. And, as they make camp every night Kahlan weeps and embraces Richard’s sword, in anticipation for when she will have the real thing encircled in her arms.

As with Kahlan, Cara also can’t wait to see Richard the “Lord Rahl” of D’Hara, her “Lord Rahl”, her charge, a man whom she has great respect and love for. Nightly as Kahlan weeps for Richard, Cara gives her space and she sits by herself and reflects on what’s happened and what will happen. While in this state she always feels the pain of her agiel; a weapon wrapped in red leather that is a foot in length and about the thickness of a finger and can be used to inflicted excruciating pain or to kill; a pain that is granted only by the current Lord of D’hara, Richard. She does this to make sure the bond she has with him is still in place and to make sure he still lives.

That’s what I envision as having taken place.
